About this Event
The WV Intertational Film Festival presents a sneak peek screening of "Still Life" at the Underground Cinema--
About the film:
A feature documentary about the water, industrial poisoning, and the people of southern West Virginia, using visceral imagery and poetic narratives to convey a universal experience of hard work, neglect, dirty dealings, death and even dark humor.
A visceral study of Charleston, WV's headline-fetching chemical spill of 2014, the urban crises it caused, and the foundation of chronic environmental devastation within which it occurred. While the state's rural denizens remain steadfast to a culture of grin-and-bear-it, the urbanites encountering bad water for the first time begin taking flight, eroding West Virginia's proud capital, to its newest ghost town. Are the 'Coal Fields' in a mortal state? Or is there Still Life?
