Bright Futures Now, Inc., community partners to host health fair at Magic Island Park
Charleston, WV— The fourth annual Westside Community Health Fair will commence for a second year at Magic Island Park in Charleston, WV on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, starting at 11:00 a.m.
“I had the opportunity to take blood pressure and hand out health education cards at the Westside Community Health Fair. The event was smoothly run and provided Charleston residents with incredible resources regarding many aspects of health and wellness. As a medical student at WVSOM, it was inspiring to see such a resilient community come together to target such critical issues while also allowing me to practice my skills in a real-life setting. I am really looking forward to the next event, and I cannot wait to see how it grows over the years with the help of amazing sponsors,” said Lexi Lohfelm, student at West Virginia School Osteopathic Medicine.
“Directing people to the right resources is vital to the communities here in Kanawha County. A lot of folks just simply do not know the steps to take to get the help or assistance they need. Our goal is to make that easier for them. They need to know we are paying attention to the issues at hand and are willing to pull all the resources that we can together to help. Our health fairs have been successful in bringing knowledge to the people the past few years, and together is how we do this.” said Dr. Bishop Haley with Bright Futures Now, Inc.
Community Impact
Hosted by Bright Future Now, Inc., many state and local organizations, vendors, and sponsors will partner to help make a difference in the Westside of Charleston and beyond. The goal is to increase the reach in providing more services
and letting folks know what help is available for all the Westside and its surrounding communities. The health fair will provide a day of food and fun for folks of all ages as well as free health screenings, flu vaccinations, resources, and so much more.
