Argentine Tango Immersion: Foundations

Jump in and join us for the journey into Argentine Tango social dancing. Learn the basics you will need to start enjoying dancing right away. Focus will include; Embracing and walking with intention, finding comfort, connection and communication with your partner, musicality, etiquette and movements for confident navigation on the social dance floor.  New and seasoned dancers welcomed! No partner required.

Friday May 4   8p-10p

Exploration and practice of “Foundations” for Argentine Tango.

Intentional walking, dynamic embrace, communication, connection, cadence and basic musicality.  Etiquette and floor craft, “must haves” for social dancing!

1.5 hours of class followed by supervised practice.

Special visiting guest instructors Tate Di Chiazza & Karen Jaffe are back!
Their teaching style is fun and relaxed, allowing their students to also have fun and be relaxed while learning this beautiful dance. Together they have over 40 years of experience dancing, teaching and performing Argentine Tango!

Tate Di Chiazza, is an international artist visiting from Buenos Aires on a one year work visa. Since his teens he has studied with masters, worked teaching and performing Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires. Tate has traveled extensively, around the world with Tango, both as an instructor and performer. He toured with the famous show "Tanguera" from 2002-2009.

Karen Jaffe lives near Asheville, NC. In her 20 years of Tango she has supported dancers through offering weekly classes, social dances, has organized dozens of events and has traveled extensively to continue her own education and to teach.

Saturday’s workshops will progress from what we learn on Friday night. Sunday’s “Taste of Argentina” is a performance demonstrating the evolution of the Argentine culture and Tango. Through this multimedia presentation, including video, dialog and dance demonstrations of the styles over time, we hope to offer you a deeper understanding of Argentine Tango.
