About this Event
Free EventFestivALL Goes VirtuALL!
Dear friends,
I hope this finds you and your family safe and well.
Things have drastically changed in our world in such a brief time, but art remains a constant and vital need. We find ourselves turning to the arts for healing and comfort, and even while distanced, for the connections we forge through shared experiences and creative exploration. FestivALL believes in the transformative power of the arts to connect and inspire and we have been providing these opportunities through the presentation of the visual and performing arts since 2005.
However, the current health crisis has prompted us to reimagine what FestivALL 2020 will look like. We’ve been hard at work with our partners to transform events in to a “VirtuALL” experience for the whole family! How we serve the FestivALL mission will look different this year, but we have only become more resolute in why we serve.
Along with our partners, we have curated a dynamic schedule of 15 days of virtual programming that include a fresh take on favorites like the Art Fair and new events like free dance classes from both local and nationally acclaimed studios.
FestivALL is cherished for the meaningful experiences it provides:
fun activities for the family like creating a masterpiece at the Children's Art Fair,
making the exciting discovery of a local musician that's new to you,
sharing in the moment when an artist reveals the inspiration behind their work,
and so much more.
We invite you to join us June 14-28th as our City Becomes a Work of Art and we look forward to sharing in these moments with you. The full schedule of this new 'VirtuALL' experience will be available at the end of May, but until that time we encourage you to enjoy our weekly streaming suggestions that will fill your days with art, music, theater, and dance.
It is my sincerest hope that you and those close to you continue to stay safe and healthy during this time. On behalf of the entire FestivALL team, we thank you for your support amisdt so much uncertainty.
For more than 15 years, FestivALL has been synonymous with gathering with friends and family – at concert halls, parades, and street fairs. While we may not be celebrating in person this June, we will still be able to share in the feeling of FestivALL, together, and for many more years to come.
Sincerely,
Maria Belcher, Executive Director
FestivALL Charleston
For the last several years, FestivALL has issued a call to local artists to submit a design for the June festival's commemorative t-shirts and posters. We are pleased to share with you the artwork above, designed by Caroline Murphy, which is the winning selection for 2020. Caroline's submission is serendipitous in many ways, but perhaps none more so than the fact we received her artwork in February. In the later weeks, upon the consideration of FestivALL turning VirtuALL, it was clear that Caroline's design captured the direction we were likely headed - but also perfectly shows that even when we are not able to gather in a concert hall or out at a parade, that we can still share in the spirit of FestivALL together.
