About this Event
View mapIt is said that kissing a hunk of rock at Blarney Castle, in County Cork, Ireland, bestows one with great eloquence or skill at flattery, and the name itself has become synonymous with storytelling with humor and wit. Beginning in 2020, we honored the memory of the 'Earl of Elkview' George Daugherty, by naming our story contest after him. George was a great raconteur and someone blessed with the gift of 'the blarney' and very proud of his Irish heritage. All Celtic Countries have great storytelling traditions, from far flung mythology to the more contemporary such as Ireland's W. B. Yeats and James Joyce, Scotland's Robert Burns and Wales' Dylan Thomas to name a few. Join this great tradition and plethora of greats, and bring your own fanciful tale.
