In collaboration with Voices of West Virginia, the University of Charleston English department will host WV author Jayne Anne Phillips on Wednesday, April 10. The event will be held in the Erma Byrd Gallery at 6:00 p.m.
A book signing will follow the presentation by the author.
The event is free and open to the public, but because space is limited, those interested are asked to register for the event at the link provided at www.ucwv.edu.
Jayne Anne Phillips was born in Buckhannon, WV. She graduated from WVU and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. She has held teaching positions at several institutions, including Harvard University, Williams College, Brandeis University, and Boston University. She is currently Professor of English and founder/director of the Rutgers University – Newark Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program.
Phillips is a National Book Award nominee, twice a National Book Critic’s Circle finalist in fiction, the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, an Academy Award in Literature, and numerous other awards. Her latest work is Night Watch, published in 2023.
