View mapWe are excited to have our first student music competition this year. Each section will be preceded by a not to be missed short workshop preformance from our talented judges.
Middle School Entrants.
9- 9 30am: Check in and or Registration open for Middle School Competition.
9 30-10am: 'Tim and Maggie' will play different time signatures tunes, Jigs, Reels, Airs and instruments commonly used in celtic music. They will explain before each tune, it's nature, origin and information about the instruments they will perform the tune on.
The audience is invited to ask questions
10 05: Commencement of competition.
Awards given on completion.
High School Entrants
11-11 30am: Check in and or Register for High School Competition.
11 30am - Noon: 'Tim and Maggie' &will play different time signatures tunes, Jigs, Reels, Airs and instruments commonly used in celtic music. They will explain before each tune, it's nature, origin and information about the instruments they will perform the tune on.

12 05: Commencement of competition.

Rules of Competition for Middle and High School.
Students to be in attendance of Tim and Maggie Concert at start of competition.
Only traditional celtic music will be played in competition.
Music Classifications are: Reels, Jigs (single, double, slip and slide), hornpipes, waltz, airs, marches and polkas.
Competitor's will play two pieces of contrasting tempo.
Each piece will be played twice around.
Competitors will play unaccompanied.
Electronic or amplified music will not be allowed.
All instruments will play in each age category.
Competitors will play in either: Middle School and under category or High School.

About our Performers and Judges:
Tim Mainland and Maggie Juisel
Tim & Maggie play instrumental folk music. They grew up with it; they have studied it and have traveled throughout the United States, England, Scotland and France looking for it. They teach music professionally, in and around Athens, WV, work on instruments every day and play music in their spare time. Their instruments are flutes, bagpipes, whistles, frets, accordion and voice.
