Tea and Tour

Ellie Schaul will give tours of the Temple’s art and artifacts including sculptures, a major tapestry, adornments, and more. The Performing Youth Quartet will also perform.

In approximately 2013, Temple Israel President Phillip Angel, had a dream that all the art and artifacts therein should be catalogued and photographed into a beautiful booklet. Ellie Schaul, Temple member and artist in her own right, undertook the tremendous job to inventory and research each artist and artisan and the result today is that beautiful booklet and a complete accounting of each gem in the collection. Phillip died before his dream was finished, but in celebration of completion, Temple Israel hosted it's first Art Tour in 2017. The tour was a smashing success and we have been asked by many to repeat the event. Ellie will again conduct the tour with Betty Stern adding commentary regarding religious significance of many of the artifacts. The collection includes sculpture, tapestries, works on paper, silverworks, and art glass.

Tickets: $10 at the door includes tea, tea sandwiches, and pastries. This event is a fundraiser for the Sisterhood of Temple Israel.
