Thank you for helping us keep this Parade and memories of those first Veterans honoring Veterans alive in Charleston, West Virginia. In 1942 John Brawley Post 20 The American Legion held their first Veterans Parade. They were a group of Veterans from World War I who marched down Capitol Street in support of those soldiers who were being shipped out to fight in World War II. There has been a Parade every year, sponsored by John Brawley Post 20 The American Legion, since that first Parade in 1942.
