West Virginia Jewish Film Festival

Enjoy a double feature of the newest releases on the subjects of Jewish culture and history.

5:30pm Bagel and Lox Spread and Coffee in lobby
6:30pm Ask Dr. Ruth (USA, English, 100 minutes, 2019) A Hulu original.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer escaped the Holocaust with the Kindertransport (the subject of a
prior WVJFF doc) as a child and her family was murdered. She later joined the
Haganah as a sharpshooter to help establish the Jewish State before the itzy-bitzy Dr.
Ruth became America’s sex therapist. For her, sex has always been the opposite of
death, and she has never shut up about it, even at her current age of 91. “Two
consenting adults should be allowed to do whatever they want in the privacy of their
bedroom…or pool table… or kitchen floor”…Warning: Graphic language , of course

8:15pm Mr. Gaga: A True Story of Love and Dance (USA, English and Hebrew, 102 minutes, 2017)

This film tells the story of Ohad Naharin, a renowned Israeli cheograpier and artistic
director of the Batsheva Dance Company. He is an artistic genius who redefined the
language of modern dance. Former dancers and teachers remark on the demanding,
difficult, selfish, gifted and irresistible fellow that Naharin, now 64, has always been,
defying norms. He worked with Martha Graham in NYC and stole Mari Kajiwara, a star
with the Alvin Ailey to return to Israel as his wife.

“This film is beyond beautiful”…January Johnson Wolf

Director’s note…These are both full length documentaries. Perhaps choose one (or see both for the truly strong of tuchus.)

Free and open to the public in association with FestivALL.
